Marks of High School are often considered important in entry-test exams like MDCAT and other tests of Top-class universities of Pakistan .Where each number is important for the merit list . These marks have a weightage of almost 5-10 percent in total percentage entry exams.

The total marks of Matric are 1200, having  8 subjects including  practicals . Earlier they were 1100 marks in matric , but now there is the addition of a new subject, “Tarjama-tul—Quran,“ which carries additional 100 marks.

Matric examination is conducted by provisional boards of respective provinces, like the Punjab Board, Sindh Board, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Board ,AJK Board ,Balochistan and Federal Board.
